How to use your Vermont WIC card at the store: Use your Family Food Benefits list and the Vermont WIC Food Guide to plan and shop with your Vermont WIC card. Make a grocery list and identify the brands and package sizes of the WIC approved products you plan to buy. At the store, select your WIC food items and when you are ready to check out, you can go to any cashier. Put your WIC-eligible foods together with your other purchases. Once all your items have been scanned and totaled, give the cashier any coupons. When ready to pay, use the WIC card as your first form of payment. SWIPE your WIC card and follow the directions on the card reader. Enter your 4-digit PIN on the keypad and press the OK or ENTER key. If there are items that you are buying that are not on your Family Food Benefits list, you can still purchase them using another type of payment. Some smaller stores may ask you to separate your WIC groceries from your other items and pay with your WIC Card separately. When the cashier hands you your receipt, make sure the information on the receipt is correct. Save your receipt so you will know your remaining WIC balance the next time you shop. Benefits left at the end of the month do not carry over.
|
PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. You must have a 4-digit PIN to use your Vermont WIC card. Choose a PIN that is easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess. For example, don't use your birth date. Never tell anyone else, including a grocery store cashier, your secret PIN. Never write your PIN on your card or card sleeve. DO NOT write your PIN on anything you carry in your wallet or purse.
|
